about

Tintura's 3rd album "Tee Säärekülast" (Road from Sääreküla) is full of bold colours and experiments with Estonian folk song tradition, world music and hip-hop rhythms. Samples include finds from the Estonian archive of 1980s popular music as well as archive recordings from around the world.

The album is largely inspired by the folk songs of Muhu and Saaremaa Islands collected by Ingrid Rüütel and stored in the Estonian Folklore Archives.

In addition to folk song texts, Tintura has always experimented with the work of Estonian poets. This album also features a recent text by Estonian poet Berit Kaschan. "Tiitrivõitja" (Winner of the Title) is performed in spoken word by actor Veiko Porkanen. In addition, jazz musician Lauri Kadalipp delights the listener with a saxophone solo in the song “Kuu oli Eila” (Yesterday's Moon was Thoughtful). In the piece "Endine Hääl" (The Voice of the Past), Arno Tamm’s arrangement for a brass quartet is performed by the young talents Kärt Katriin Nagel, Lisete Jürgenson, Aksel Vürst and Triin Hordo.
